peanut butter, Nutella oat bars

These Houston floods have been absolutely crazy throughout the past few months. Yes, months. Since I’ve moved back to Texas I feel like Houston has had nothing but rain. It seems like summers here are either extremely wet or extremely dry, no happy medium. However, rainy days do call for a new sweet treat recipe! So last week, my little sis and I made up this scrumptious recipe! Of course, it involves peanut butter... AND this time, Nutella, too! It was pretty easy and absolutely delicious. When looking at this tasty treat it may look overly sweet but in my opinion, it's perfect. I’d say it could also be served as a breakfast bar. Whatever floats your boat… But seriously y'all, be safe in these floods! Try this recipe, if you find yourself wanting to stay dry and inside!
What you'll need:
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup old fashion oats
1/3 cup sugar
3/4 cup peanut butter (I used chunky but any type will work.)
1/4 cup Nutella
1 egg
2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 cup milk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup raisins
3/4 cup mini semi-sweet choc chips (1/4 to sprinkle on top)
How you'll do it:
Preheat the oven to 350°
In a large mixing bowl, mix the flour, oats, sugar and baking soda
In a medium size mixing bowl, mix the peanut butter, Nutella, egg, vanilla and milk
Pour and mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients
Mix in the raisins and ½ cup of the chocolate chips
Coat your 9 X 9 pan with non-stick spray
Pour in the batter and top with ¼ cup chocolate chips
Bake for 25 minutes
The bars are quite gooey when they come out of the oven, (I love them this way!!!!) so if you prefer them to be set then let me cool for approx. 20 minutes before you serve.
So scrumptious with a glass of milk; ENJOY!
